Terms of Service
Effective 30 July 2026. These terms govern your use of RateFloor and any future paid subscription.
1. Service Description
RateFloor is a browser-based tool that calculates a minimum freelance hourly rate based on user-provided numbers. The calculator runs entirely on your device. No data you enter is sent to any server.
RateFloor is provided as a free tool. A paid "Pro" subscription tier is planned but not yet available. No payment processor is connected, and no payments are currently being accepted.
2. Use of the Free Calculator
You may use the free calculator without signing up, creating an account, or providing any personal information. There are no limits on the number of calculations you can perform.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the numbers you enter. The calculated rate is a reference estimate — it is not financial advice, and you should verify it against your own situation before setting a rate for a client.
3. Billing (Pro Subscription)
3.1 What you are buying
A Pro subscription grants access to additional features: multi-scenario comparison, PDF export of rate breakdowns, tax-aware rate calculation, a custom assumptions library, and early access to new features. These features are planned and not yet available.
3.2 Price and billing period
The Pro subscription price is $12 per month, billed at the start of each monthly billing period. The price is in US dollars. We may change the price for new subscriptions in the future, but existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before any price change affecting their subscription.
3.3 When payment is taken
Payment is taken at the start of each billing period. The first payment is taken when you subscribe. Subsequent payments are taken on the same day of each following month.
3.4 Failed payments
If a payment fails (e.g., card declined, expired, or insufficient funds):
- We will retry the charge automatically up to three times over the following 7 days.
- If the charge succeeds on retry, your subscription continues uninterrupted.
- If all retries fail, access to Pro features will be suspended until a payment succeeds.
- Your account and data will not be deleted; you can update your payment method and reactivate at any time.
3.5 Refund policy
If you are not satisfied with the Pro subscription, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your first payment. After the first 14 days, monthly subscription fees are non-refundable except in cases of service outage or error on our part. To request a refund, contact us through the channels listed on the website.
3.6 Cancellation
You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account area. After cancellation, your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period. No further payments will be taken. No partial refunds are given for the remainder of a billing period.
4. Data and Privacy
RateFloor does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. The only persistent data is stored in your browser's localStorage (if you choose to use it), and that data never leaves your device.
We do not use cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising. We do not have any third-party analytics, tracking scripts, or embedded services on the site.
If a Pro subscription is launched, we will collect only the minimum information needed to process payments (typically an email address and payment method token). We will never sell or share your personal data.
5. Limitations of Liability
RateFloor is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. The calculated rate is a mathematical estimate based on the numbers you provide. It is not financial, legal, or tax advice. You are solely responsible for any decisions you make based on the calculator's output.
In no event shall RateFloor be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
6. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
7. Contact
If you have questions about these terms, please reach out via the project's repository or support channels. No email address, postal address, or legal entity name is listed because this project does not yet have one.
